Strong man James Garrad deadlifts a whopping 270kg at The Leisure Show Dubai 2017

Put into perspective, that weight is almost eight times the 35kg luggage limit for economy travelers on Emirates – so eight full suitcases!

Originally from Sheffield, UK, Garrad ranked in the top 100 strongest men in the world in 2016. In his native England he took part in a series of competitions and ranked as the 7th strongest man in the country at one stage.

Garrad was joined at The Leisure Show Dubai 2017 with members of the Dubai-based community he has built who now focus on strength training as part of their lifestyle. Here, he has even worked with people with a variety of injuries, and built up their strength through his programmes.

After 10 weeks out of training due to an arm injury, Garrad managed to deadlift 270kg across Matrix Fitness latest barbell. He previously managed to drag a 36-tonne truck 20 meters in 24 seconds.

To give men and women an opportunity to try something new that tests them in new ways and builds great pride and confidence.”
