A new training course focused on the art of Public Relations (PR) specific to exhibitions will be held in Dubai next month, organised by the UAE’s leading voice for the PR industry and one of its biggest event firms.

The Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) and dmg events Middle East Asia and Africa are hosting ‘Exhibition PR 101’ to cater to the growing number of local professionals working in PR and events.

Targeted towards PR professionals who represent exhibitions or companies who exhibit regularly, the day-long course – taking place on Thursday 24th August 2017 at the Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Media City – will illustrate the vast PR opportunities such events present, and how best to capitalise on them.

Growing trade and tourism has helped Dubai become one of the top five fastest growing cities in the world and it has emerged as one of the world’s leading MICE destinations.

Meanwhile, PR has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years due to digital media’s disruption of traditional communications channels, and is becoming ever-more important a discipline to businesses as tools and tactics for promotion have evolved and audiences have exploded.

“With Dubai’s calendar becoming increasingly populated with world-class exhibitions, it is important as a professional taking part to know how to make the most of the platform provided,” commented Ray Tinston, Portfolio Director of the dmg events hospitality portfolio which includes The Hotel Show and The Leisure Show, and who will be speaking at the training.

“Making an impact amongst the hundreds of other brands competing for the same foot traffic and media attention is paramount.”

The new course will guide professionals on how to develop a clear PR strategy for exhibitions, understand the media landscape, and learn how to present an organisation’s story to gain media interest and leave a lasting impression on its audience.

Tinston will speak on behalf of dmg events, which organises more than 50+ events across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, North America and Europe, whilst the course will be led by senior PR professional John Rynehart from Four Communications, who has almost 20 years’ international and local experience in PR and journalism. The session will also feature a Q+A with a practicing UAE exhibition trade journalist.

“Exhibiting at a trade show or event is a great way to highlight your organisation, create awareness of new services, enhance reputation and sell products,” Tinston added. “Exhibitions can produce excellent PR results for an organisation if you make use of all the opportunities they present.”

“In partnership with MEPRA, we are providing a first-of-its kind opportunity for businesses in this region to learn more about how to make the most of exhibitions from a PR standpoint. Exhibitions remain the leading annual get-together for professionals across a range of industries. They attract thousands of visitors and international media attention – therefore there is much opportunity to explore.”

Enrolling in this course will help professionals gain skills and knowledge on a range of topics, including: ‘Understanding the UAE media landscape’, ‘Ways of presenting a story to media’, ‘Exhibition PR campaign model’, ‘Leveraging social media’, ‘Managing media at an exhibition’, ‘Exhibition PR best practice and what to avoid’ and much more.

Exhibition PR 101 will take place 9am-5pm on Thursday 24th August 2017 at the Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Media City. The course costs AED1,500 for MEPRA Members and dmg events Middle East, Asia and Africa exhibitors, and AED2,500 for Non-Members.
