Hotelier Middle East has revealed its list of the “Top 10 Hottest New Hotel Restaurants” for 2016. I really like this – I have some new restaurants to add to my list of places to visit this year.

The list includes the following restaurants in the following Middle Eastern locations – Dubai, Ajman, Doha, Bahrain, and Riyadh:

  1. Kiyi (opened September 2015)
    Hotel: Fairmont Ajman | Cuisine: Turkish
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “…views of the Arabian Gulf, traditional and modern Turkish recipes on the menu…interiors are inspired by Imperial Ottoman Turkey, including Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace.”

  2. Nozomi Doha (opened October 2015)
    Hotel: Marsa Malaz Kempinski | Cuisine: Contemporary Japanese
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “…ingredients include highest grade Kobe beef, flown in twice a week from Japan. According to the hotel, Nozomi Doha’s sushi master Tarana Malikova is the first female sushi master outside of Japan.”
  1. Bread Street Kitchen & Bar (opened November 2015)
    Hotel: Atlantis The Palm, Dubai | Cuisine: British European
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “…modeled on the original Bread Street Kitchen by chef Gordon Ramsay, located on London’s Bread Street…features two bars (one indoor and one on the terrace)…and a sit-at ice cream parlor.”
  2. The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill (opened November 2015)
    Hotel: DoubleTree by Hilton JBR | Cuisine: Seafood
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “Floor-to-ceiling windows…overlooks the new ‘Dubai Eye’, the world’s largest ferris wheel, currently under construction at JBR…deals on oysters.”

 

  1. WU Asian Restaurant & Lounge (opened November 2015)
    Hotel: Art Rotana, Bahrain | Cuisine: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Malaysian and Thai
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “Beachfront setting and views, terrace area, outdoor garden.”
  2. Z Lounge by Zengo (opened November 2015)
    Hotel: Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha | Cuisine: Latin-Asian fusion
    Why it’s ‘hot’: Head Chef is Notable Mexican chef Richard Sandoval”, while location is “…on the highest floor (the 61st) of Doha’s tallest building. The venue has 180-degree views of the city.”
  3. Play Restaurant & Lounge (opened December 2015)
    Hotel: The H Hotel, Dubai | Cuisine: Mediterranean
    Why it’s ‘hot’: concept is “…devised by ex-Zuma chef Reif Othman,” while the location “…on the hotel’s 36th floor, offers views from both sides of the restaurant, uniquely though, of the city skyline from one side, and of the sea from the other…”
  1. Acacia by Pierre Gagnaire (opened January 2016)
    Hotel: Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh, KSA | Cuisine: Fine French dining
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “A menu created by three-Michelin awarded chef Pierre Gagnaire, with live cooking…a new feature to Pierre Gagnaire’s F&B outlets.”
  1. Quattro Passi (opening in late-2016)
    Hotel: Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai | Cuisine: Southern Italian
    Why it’s ‘hot’: Chef Antonio Mellino brings a two-Michelin awarded import from Italy’s Amalfi Coast and London’s Mayfair, to go with an Italian menu focusing on pasta and seafood. The Dubai venture will be headed by Antonio Mellino’s son Fabrizio.”
  2. Sabai Thai (opening in March 2016)
    Hotel: The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, Qatar | Cuisine: Royal Thai
    Why it’s ‘hot’: “Dishes prepared with fresh ingredients imported from Thailand and following traditional Thai principles, live cooking, live Thai entertainment.”
